Process: Sparkling Water (CO2 Decaffeination)
This natural method of decaffeination was discovered by well known, Max Plank Institute scientist, Kurt Zosel. Simply put, green coffee is mixed with pure water which makes the grains expand and the caffeine molecules start moving. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is then introduced creating "Sparkling Water". The CO2 acts like a magnet and collects the molecules of caffeine so they can be removed. This is a direct contact method that doesn't use chemicals which means the natural proteins and carbohydrates of the coffee beans are intact. And the byproducts are natural and 100% recyclable.
